Malakai

when words fail

I met a stranger
eyes locked in lime
forever green
another snapshot
for moments lifted

"Hello doctor, we've been expecting you.
The patient has been sedated with a
mild horse tranquilizer and a healthy
dose of the evening news. We won't
have to worry about this one anymore,
shes already drooling the remains of
her fried cerebral down her chin.
We will get a blood sample later,
the nurse tried earlier, couldn't
find a vein."

dried up
five floors up
fifty feet
fifty miles
I watched her smile
concealed behind all that noise
shy, defiant
the sun sets
watch Apollo rise
maybe tomorrow doesn't lie

"I only left because the words
wouldn't work anymore.
Mankind doped you up enough
to make you believe their
pre-taped surreality show
was the only way to fly."

[fifty miles away and I'm dying]

your tomorrow died
lungs filled with fuel
with smoke
high octane
follow six gears turning
scratch another year off the wall
bow down
[I'll follow]

bottom rung
words trapped in pause and I'm stalling
you let them get you
farewell virtue
farewell pride
death is a victim
tape your mouth shut
no more pills to swallow
sew your eyes shut
they'll only lie to you
blow your eardrums
no more words

smoked out

another flick of the lighter
blue flame lost in the heat
tainted breath for a new day
repetition is relative
orange glow climbing
white tower shrinking
every day the same
choke in the wafted smoke
society breathes [breeds] it
breathe

"The sun gets dimmer with the sigh
of days passing. Blue light becomes
a shaded ally to sink into when
another death climbs your spine.
Hate stares with cancer dead eyes,
counting the years [hours]
until the darkness rolls you home."

cigarettes burn faster than life
most days anyways
relevant to my weathered mind
snuff another hour away
lower your head
find the stars hiding
in the ashes left hanging

hitching
   [please stay between the lines]

you walked out the door
stepped into the sunlight
for the first time
bright and confusing
just a little lighter
glitter for unwashed skin

"Vehicles will notice your passing,
but life moves on whether you need
the next state of mind or not.
Throwing spent puddles laughter
onto your frame to soak your body
to match your mind."

put the thumb out for another hour
counting the minutes, seconds
with the sun crossing
to the western plain we go
a new freedom undefined

you had to get away
you gave it all away
to anyone
that would lend an ear, a tear
second chances lost
footprints embedded in broken soil
concrete allies stretch forever
a solid path, real
hang your head
follow the lines
they'll bring you heaven, hell
something else to dream upon

white night

awe-struck
listen to the stars come up
another hand in time
another baited breath
come with me
to the way of the damned
the beat
of a million hearts dancing
with your angel eyes
see the throbbing moon
spread wide for reflections
pupils pinned beneath
the canopy of light
"look to la luna"
fuel for poisoned dilations
moonshine in your veins
a white night undenied
collapse with me
as the suns bastard twin
still shines

Malakai

Antibiographical man. I am 24 years of age, living comfortably in Pontiac, Illinois. Male by the definition of anatomy, but slinking past the stereotypes all the same. This is a collection of a life behind jaded eyes, poetry that every man, woman, and child can feel and relate to. Take a step into the shadows and follow the breeze at your back, stepping always toward the light. Blink with me.
